Actually, the vast majority of Germany immigrants came from Rheinland-Pfalz, so Neckarelz, Mosbach would make more sense. Leipzig is a long way from the immigration routes.
And, while the southern parts of Baden, Württemberg and Bavaria were predominantly Catholic, the northern parts were predominantly Protestant.
I have a researcher who works for me in München, I will have her pull the parish records for Neckarelz.

As an addition to the last e-mail. Since the Emmerts that immigrated to the colonies were protestant Leipzig would fit better as it was a protestant town from what I understand whereas Baden was Catholic.

Hello Michael and Jonathan:
I am a descendant of John Emmert b.1796, whose daughter Rebecca was the first wife of Thomas Foster Strahorn.
My question is, was Johann Michael Emmert born in 1693 in Leipzig, or Neckarelz, Mosbach? Do you have the Kirchenbücher records?
Thanks,
Gary Zentmyer
